To make browsing faster AOL loads each graphic as a compressed image, however this process is not compatible with industry standard graphic programs. This is the reason you see lines or colored bands in some graphics and/or graininess in others, while viewing sites. The solution is a simple one, you must change your compression settings. Below are easy to follow steps to show you how this is done. 1) Click on "Members" in the top text menu. 2) Click on "Preferences". 3) Click on the WWW Icon. 4) Click on "Web Graphics" tab. 5) UNSELECT "use compressed graphics". 6) Click "OK" 1) Click on the "MY AOL" Icon. 2) Click on "Preferences". 3) Click on the WWW Icon. 4) Click on "Web Graphics" tab. 5) UNSELECT "use compressed graphics". 6) Click "OK" After you have made these changes, be advised that you may not see any difference in viewing. This is due to the fact you are now viewing CACHED files stored locally on your computer. To view images properly you must clear your CACHE. This is done in the same way as when you changed your compression settings, with the exception of using the "General" Tab and clicking "Delete Files" in the Temporary Internet Files section. |
